Are You a Productive Person? Here’s How You Can Make The Most Out Of Day Off
If you are reading this article, it’s safe to say that you are well aware of scheduling a working day. From meeting every deadline, social obligations, events, and job commitments for your professional growth, you definitely know how to ace your working days by doing more in less time.
However, when it comes to a day off, do you feel like you don’t know what to do to enjoy and take advantage of it? A lot of productive people feel anxious and stressed at the end of their day off because they feel less productive.
Well, I am not advising you to sit in pajamas and waste the entire day. Here, I will be discussing some fun ways to instead utilize the day wisely and carve out some ‘me time’. This way, you can end the day with positive feelings and energy.
Below are some of the many tips that you can follow to spend your personal day off the best way possible.
Follow Regular Morning Routine
Do not break your morning routine, even during your time off. Your break from work shouldn’t interrupt good personal habits, so don’t bring negative changes. We all know mornings are the most productive time of the day, so start your day on a positive note and drink a glass full of water, lemonade, coconut water, or refreshing juices to provide the required nourishment to your body. Try to wake up early and get those extra few hours to enjoy the weekend.
Indulge in Your Favourite Activity
Take part in the activities that you love but that you don’t usually have time to do. Creative activities are the best way to elevate our mood. It could be a yoga or meditation session, cooking something special, art, cycling, dancing, organizing your wardrobe, etc. A day off is a great opportunity to practice these activities that make you happier and bring out the best in yourself. Don’t let this amazing opportunity pass you by.
Set a Virtual Date with Your Peers
Finding time for friends should be one of the first things on your to-do list for your day off. Catching up with a friend can help to reduce stress levels and give a sense of relief to your mind. So, set up a virtual date with your best friend since going out is not safe during the coronavirus pandemic. Call a friend, talk about your problems, share funny memes, and laugh together. After all, a great and supportive friendship is essential to keep us growing into a better person.
Do a Digital Detox
We all need a digital detox retreat to experience the other things that matter more and improve your physical and mental health, like spending time close to nature, practicing mindfulness, self-care or exercising. Tech addiction is capable enough to impact our mental health. While you can’t avoid it on your working days, the least you can do is to refrain from its usage on your day off to feel better and instead get in touch with the real world around you.
Reward Yourself
You shouldn’t feel selfish about pampering yourself. On your day off, learn to spend more time with yourself. Treat yourself to the things that rejuvenate and boost your mood. Buy a little something special, indulge in skin-care, eat a healthy sweet treat, listen to motivating podcasts, etc. You work hard the whole week, so taking a break to sit back, relax, and enjoy the day off won’t harm anyone. Always remind yourself that you deserve to lead a happy and healthy life.
Reserve A Day For Important Work
Running behind on household work, errands, paper-work, bank work, etc, can make you anxious, increasing your stress level as you can’t stop thinking about them. If you can relate, then utilize this extra day to do all of your pending tasks. Trust me, you will feel way more relaxed and much better after getting it done. You should use this time to its full advantage. However, make sure you still get some time to recharge and refresh your mind and body besides tackling your personal work.
Stop Checking E-mails
You may be bombarded by text messages and e-mails even on your day off. It will increase tension if you keep checking on and replying to them constantly. Remember that it’s your day off and you don’t need to stick to your work commitments unless it’s an emergency. This habit will distract you from making the most out of your day off. So, put your phone aside and leave your work thoughts for a workday.
Final Thoughts
After spending the entire day making the most out of it, allow some time in the evening to do nothing at all. You need to recharge your mind as you head back to work. Therefore, stay in a relaxed state of mind and go to bed early to have an adequate sleep of 7-9 hours, waking up the next day full of energy. With a well-managed day off, you will be surprised to feel more accomplished and better than ever as you return to work.
